Learning Journal

~Learning Journal

Hi students! This is the site where I will post questions and you will reflect from the lesson. You will come to this site and answer my post.

What's Happening

~Map Unit

Over the past weeks in class, the students have been learning about maps. We started out mapping the classroom and then as you know, the students had to map thier own room. Having the students create maps, it gave them a better understanding on how maps work. Next, we introduced the students to "Road Maps". We did an in-class activity together, where the students had to read a Manhattan road map and answer the questions. Then we took it one step further, we gave the students a bigger map of Manhattan and in their "Map Journals" they did an activity in pairs. For the final project, the students were given a Kansas Road Map. They were placed into pairs and the students had to journey from Manhattan, Kansas to Garden City Kansas. They also had ten required stops along the way. In their journals, they had to write the highway and direction they were traveling. They did such a great job! I was very impressed with every student. To wrap up the unit, we played Map Jeopardy. The students really had fun!

Personal Thoughts

~Personal Thoughts

I can't believe its already May. I'm getting married June 13th, and it's almost here. It seems like yesterday that I just got engaged and had an entire year to plan. I can't believe how fast the time has went. Everything is starting to change with the wedding and graduation approaching. I'm starting to get really excited! I'm so thankful for having my great family because they've been helping out so much trying to get everything ready for the big day!
